Largest ***Oceanographic Aquarium*** (Europe)

AND ONCE YOU ARE IN SPAIN…

…why not have an interesting stop in VALENCIA visiting the biggest Sea Life Center Europe has to offer ! The Oceanographic Park is an underwater city where you can walk through several habitats of the world, from the Arctic to the Antarctic. “The Oceanographic invites the tourist explorer to travel around the planet’s main seas and oceans.”

“The Aquarium at the City of the Arts and Sciences is made up of different buildings, each one identified with one of our planet’s seas and oceans, and housing the exhibitions of the most typical environments and ecosystems. The spectacular circular entrance building with its 26 meter glass walls was designed by the architect Félix Candela. The ground floor houses information points, shops and other general services. From here we can access ten different areas.” The aquariums that compose it have more than 42 million liters of salt water and represent the different marine ecosystems of the ground. The salt water is continuous refreshed from the (sea) river next to the facility.

BIRD’S EYE VIEW

“More than 45,000 examples of 500 different marine species – amongst which can be found sharks, Beluga whales, walruses, sea lions, penguins and manta rays – inhabit nine underwater towers that, structured in two levels, represent the most emblematic ecosystems of the planet.” Each building is identified with the aquatic environments of the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Islands, and the Red Sea.

As you explore the Park you pass through the tropical latitudes of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, including the Mediterranean Sea and some temperate coastal Wetlands. You can also take a submarine tube-ride through a coastal marine habitat.

“The oceanographic park, created as a great leisure, training and research center, is structured into ten great areas. The marine areas reflect the Mediterranean habitats, the polar oceans – the Arctic and the Antarctic, the islands, the tropical seas, the temperate seas and the Red Sea. Moreover, the park also has a spectacular dolphinarium, an auditorium – within which one can find the Red Sea aquarium – with an area for the mangrove swamps and another for the marshlands, and different garden areas, with more than 80 different plant species.”

Learn about the biodiversity and fragility of the eco-systems under the ocean. It is also possible to enjoy a dolphin show (depending on the time of visit) and see Europe’s largest Dolphinarium.

“And of course it also offers many different services such as shops and restaurants, amongst which should be highlighted the underwater restaurant where clients can have dinner surrounded by an immense aquarium.”
